Contemplating the Nude
Contemplating the Nude was exhibited at Conquest House Gallery in 2016 and marked a significant moment in my ongoing engagement with the human form. Rooted in life drawing, this body of work reflects a practice that has been central to my artistic journey—one grounded in observation, presence, and sustained contemplation.
For me, the human body exists both as subject and symbol. It is a site of self-expression, vulnerability, and beauty, and a means through which I explore the subtle dialogue between the physical and the spiritual. Through repeated study of the nude, I seek not merely to describe anatomy or surface appearance, but to reveal something more intimate: the connection between exterior form and inner life.
My practice is driven by the belief that the body “reflects the inner keeper.” Line, shape, and contrast become tools for expressing essence as much as structure—suggesting emotion, memory, and spirit held within the flesh. Each drawing is an act of attention, a quiet exchange between what is seen and what is felt, where form becomes a vessel for human presence and being.
