Life Drawing has been and still is an integral part of Kathryn's artistic practice. The human form and the deeper dimensions of self and self expression have been a constant source of fascination. Her continuous practice of drawing the human form reveals the beauty of being human, engaging the variety of line and shape, form and contrast. Exploring the exterior form which reflects the inner keeper, manifesting the essence of spirit.
Walk Through Canterbury
2019 Canterbury Sketches A walk around this very medieval Cathedral city and you can't help but fall in love with it's charm. Kathryn picked out some of her favourite buildings and picturesque views. All works are pencil on paper.
Canterbury Festival Portrait Sketches
As part of the Canterbury Festival 2017, Kathryn opened her studio for people to come and sit for a 15 minute portrait sketch. All the portraits are charcoal on paper. The works were exhibited at the end of the Festival at Conquest House Gallery.
Thalidomide @50
In 2006 Kathryn was commissioned by the Thalidomide Trust to paint 14 portraits celebrating the Thalidomide survivors 50 years on - Thalidomide @ 50 Project 2006 – 2008 - with an Exhibition at the New City Hall London. Taking time to listen to their stories gave her the inspiration to embark on the project highlighting some aspects of what this unique and diverse family have overcome and achieved.
